Providing trauma-informed support for refugees for successful integration into UK life

In 2021, Hopscotch Women’s Centre stepped up to lead the charity sector’s response to the arrival of Afghan evacuees in Camden. Since then, we have built a strong and award-winning programme of support for refugee women and their families.

Refugee Advocacy

Our specialist team is dedicated to supporting refugees as they navigate the challenges of adjusting to life in the UK. We understand that the journey to a new country can be daunting, and our mission is to provide compassionate and expert assistance to help refugees feel welcome and supported.

The team of Advocates uses a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach, ensuring that we can provide compassionate and specialist support for any issues that may arise during and after the resettlement process. The team uses their own lived experience to advocate with empathy and understanding, every step of the way.

We work closely with local communities and organisations, and the local authority, to ensure that refugees have access to the resources and support networks they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience.

Our programme includes

  1. Wellbeing support
  2. Life in the UK classes
  3. English classes
  4. Social groups
  5. Assistance navigating London and accessing services as a new arrival
  6. Integration activities with local communities
  7. Cultural events and celebrations
  8. Personal Development for independent living

Currently our sessions are delivered at various locations around Camden, reaching different communities to help them to integrate into the borough and wider London areas. If you are a refugee or asylum seeker in Camden in need of support, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are here to listen, advocate, and empower you on your journey to a brighter future in the UK.

We are ready to work in other London boroughs, so don’t hesitate to contact us here (link to contact form) so that we can connect and work together.
